CNC Milling Services: Custom Precision Milled Parts Guide

What is CNC Milling Services?

CNC milling removes material from a workpiece using rotating multi-point cutting tools while the workpiece is held on a table or fixture. It produces prismatic parts with flat surfaces, pockets, slots, holes, threads and complex 3D profiles in metal and engineering plastic.

3-axis and multi-axis capability

Our 3-axis centres handle the majority of plates, blocks and brackets economically. 4-axis and 5-axis machines add indexed or simultaneous rotary movement for parts that need work around a circumference or on multiple faces.

Pockets, holes and threads

We mill precision pockets and cavities, drill and ream accurate holes, and cut internal and external threads to standard or custom specifications. Hardened steel and tight-tolerance features are fully supported.

Finishing in-house

Milled parts can be anodised, bead-blasted, brushed, powder-coated, passivated or plated without leaving the facility, keeping lead time and quality under one roof.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between milling and turning?

Milling rotates the cutting tool against a fixed workpiece and suits prismatic, non-round geometry. Turning rotates the workpiece against a fixed tool and suits rotational parts such as shafts and bushings.

What milling tolerance do you provide?

Standard ISO 2768-mK, with ±0.01 mm routinely held on critical features and CMM verification available.

Can you mill large plates?

Yes — our gantry centres handle large-format aluminium plates and structural panels with controlled flatness and parallelism.

What files do you need for a quote?

A 3D STEP/STP model plus a 2D drawing stating tolerances, material and finish. We return a quotation within 24 hours.
